digredi. Latin for di- (aside) + gradi (to walk), aside-walking. Or, digression.
There is much to be said for the intuitive photographer, the digressive photographer. To allow yourself to be guided only by a scent in the air or a snow storm on the horizon, to change paths or simply walk in circles. To remove yourself from daily notions such as time, location, direction; to lose yourself in the moment of just being.

In 2009 I started documenting several neighbourhoods in and around the outskirts of Newcastle, Australia. Renowned for it's coal harbour which coats the town in a delicate black soot, it seems to have somewhat preserved many areas in a state untouched by time. There is a gentle delapidation which has slowly sprawled across the metropolitan area, preserving the landscape in a reminiscent and sentimental state.- hexham_1
